The Ambassador of Armenia to the Republic of Poland, Alexander Arzoumanian, together with his spouse Melissa Brown , visited the Royal Castle in Warsaw, where the specimens of Teresa Sahakian's Caucasian carpets are once again on display

11 August, 2026
At the Royal Castle in Warsaw, specimens of Teresa Sahakian's Caucasian carpets are once again on display.
On August 11 The Ambassador of Armenia to the Republic of Poland, Alexander Arzoumanian, together with his spouse Melissa Brown, visited the museum, where the exhibition items were presented and opportunities for further cooperation were discussed.
The carpet collection of Teresa Sahakian is considered the largest collection in Europe, consisting of 550 Caucasian carpets.
After the First World War, from a young age, Teresa Sahakian, together with her husband Gevorg Sahakian, who was of Armenian nationality, began collecting Caucasian, including Armenian, carpets. Over the years, their collection grew into a valuable and significant cultural heritage. After her husband's death, Teresa Sahakian continued the work they had started together, expanding and preserving the collection. One of her most important decisions was to donate 550 valuable Oriental carpets to Poland's museum collection.
The collection represents centuries-old Caucasian carpet-weaving traditions and includes exceptional pieces from various periods and styles, including a rare carpet dating to around 1700 belonging to the "Dragon Carpets" group.
The exhibition will run until August 17 of this year.
