Conference dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day

On April 24, a conference dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day was organized at the University of Warsaw on the initiative of Nune Gevorgyan, an Armenian student of the University, and with the organizational support of individual representatives of the Armenian community.

Ambassador Alexander Arzoumanian made an opening speech, addressing the importance of uniting efforts in the fight against the crime of genocide, prevention of new genocides and crimes against humanity.

Acting director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Edita Gzoyan and Dr. Harutyun Marutyan joined the discussion via video conference. Edita Gzoyan touched upon the historical and legal aspects of the Armenian Genocide, H. Marutyan carried out a comparative analysis of the Armenian Genocide and the Holocaust. University of Warsaw lecturer Dr. Agnieszka Bieńczyk-Missala spoke about the massacres against Armenians in Rafał Lemkin’s concept of genocide, and Dominika Maria Macios about Leopold Gaszczyk – a Pole who dedicated his life to helping Armenian refugees - survivors of the Genocide.
